What Is Mr. Rebates?

If you're here I'm assuming that you already have a pretty good idea what Mr. Rebates is and you're just trying to figure out if it's worth your time or not.

If that's the case then you should skip to the next paragraph where I talk more in depth about the program and how much you can actually earn from it.

If you don't really know what it is, then read on.

It's a website that gives you cash back if you buy things at specific stores. Kind of like Ebates but a little bit different.

The great thing is that they have over 2500 stores to choose from.

So if you want to buy something online, there's a pretty good chance they'll have the store you're looking for on their list.

How Does It Work?

First you have to sign up for a free account using your email address and a password.

Once you've created an account you're ready to start earning cash. The website is pretty simple, just click on the "Stores" link and their massive list of stores will come up.

Then all you have to do is find the store you want to shop at and then click the link for that store.

The links to the stores are affiliate links so Mr. Rebates will earn a commission if you buy something from one of the stores after clicking on their link.

Then after your purchase, Mr. Rebates shares a portion of that commission with you.

That's how it works in a nut shell but it's not quite so simple under the surface.

How Much Money Can You Earn?

The amount of money you can earn with Mr. Rebates all depends on how much online shopping you do.

The more you spend, the more you make. Now obviously this isn't a way to make an actual living because you'll always be spending more than you're making with this system.

It's more of a way to save some money. Kind of like getting everything on sale.

With that being said, the cash back payments vary for each store.

The lowest cash back I've seen from a store is 1% and the highest I've seen is 20% but most of the stores give around 5% cash back.

If you really want to pursue this as a way to make a living you could try their referral program or you could learn how I make money from websites here

You can refer friends or strangers to Mr. Rebates and earn 20% on any cash back your referral earns.

I'll go into detail about this referral program later in this review so you can decide if it's something you're interested in.

So in terms of how much money you can make, it can be substantial savings if you're buying something expensive like a tv or furniture but it all depends on your shopping habits.

How Do You Get Paid?

If you live in Canada or the United States you have the option of getting paid via check or Paypal. For any other country Paypal is the only option.

Payments take an average of 1-3 business days to be posted to your account however they do say that it can take up to 30 days on rare occasions.

This is all dependent on the company you make your purchase from as every company is different when it comes to paying affiliates.

As soon as your account has a minimum of $10 balance you can get paid and payments are made at the beginning of each month.

Eligibility

This is the section where I talk about all the things that can get in the way of you getting paid.

Mr. Rebates is far from perfect and you'll want to carefully read this section before decide to put any effort into using this program because this just might scare you off.

1. If you make a purchase with a gift card you will not get cash back

2. If you purchase a gift card you will not get cash back

3. If you click onto a different website to compare prices while shopping on Mr. Rebates there is a good chance you won't get cash back.

4. If you pre-order something you will not get cash back

5. If you buy something on a subscription, only the first payment will be eligible for cash back

6. Taxes or any extra fees are not eligible for cash back

7. Extended Warranties are not eligible for cash back

8. Some orders for people outside of Canada and US will not pay cash back. Mr. Rebates gives no explanation for this.

9. Buying things in bulk may void cash back.

Every company has a unique affiliate policy which is probably why there are so many caveats when using Mr. Rebates.

Since Mr. Rebates only pays you after they've been paid, there will be times when you just don't get paid and it might be hard to get an explanation out of them.

With that being said, they are a reputable company and they have an A+ from the Better Business Bureau.

So you can be confident that as long as they get paid, you will too.

Referral Program

I briefly mentioned the referral program earlier but now I'll get into more detail so you can decide if it's a good opportunity to make money from home.

They call their referral program, "Refer-a-Friend".

There are two ways to be credited with a referral.

One way is for your friend or referral to tell Mr. Rebates that you referred them.

This is done when your friend first signs up for an account. One of the steps of signing up is filling out a form asking you how you heard about the program.

If your friend enters your email address as the person who referred them you'll be credited with the referral.

The other way to refer people is with your own special referral link. You can try to get as many people to click your link and hope they sing up.

They offer some resources which will help you spread the word about Mr. Rebates. Here's a few examples.

Once someone signs up through you, you'll receive 20% of their cash back for as long as they remain with the program.

There are no time limits to this and no cut offs.

Even if they click your link today but don't actually sign up for another 5 years, you'll still be credited with the referral,

So there is some opportunity to make money from this although not for everybody.

In order to make an actual living from this you'd have to already have a huge online following in order to get big numbers.

If you're not already involved in internet marketing then it would just take way too long to make any real money from this.

If you're a beginner and you're interested in learning how to make money quicker than Mr. Rebates, you should have a look at my #1 recommendation.

Is Mr. Rebates A Scam Or Legit?

There is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Rebates is a legitimate company. It is not a scam so you don't have to worry about that.

They are trying to provide a service to people that is beneficial to both them and their users.

As much as they're trying, they are far from perfect.

There are just so many caveats that make payments inconsistent.

On top of that, I feel like the cash back is very small. So to really make a good amount you'd have to spend a lot which defeats the purpose.

If you just casually use it when you make a big online purchase you'll save a bit of cash and I guess that's always nice but it sure isn't anything to write home about.

Thanks for popping by and I hope you enjoyed my Mr. Rebates review.
